When you come across a real gem of a find you’ve got to share it. Maids to Measure is one such gem that the BWC has discovered.
I have often had brides lost for where to start looking for good suppliers, such is the current state of the saturated UK Wedding market, making it increasingly difficult for brides-to-be to source quality suppliers without the benefit of experience or contacts in the industry. Bridesmaid dresses, however, are not one of those areas. Your choice of bridesmaid dresses were restricted by a vast cost gaps in what was being offered to today's bride-to-be. Aside from Dessy, it was the high street option or the wedding designer boutique option. While Dessy has a wide range of design options and colours, which are excellent, (I'm not doing Dessy down here, I in fact used them for my own wedding!) it has fast become the only middle option in bridesmaid dresses between the high street and the designers, that is until Maids to Measure was launched in November 2010!
Based in a gorgeous town house in Fulham, this family run business has spotted the gap in this market and is offering bespoke bridesmaid dresses at affordable costs. Not only that, alterations are included in the price! Unheard of. Their beautifully designed front room provides an instantly warm and inviting atmosphere in which you can enjoy a glass of bubbly whilst discussing dress fabrics and design options, before trying on any of their exciting creations. Dresses can also be mixed and matched, so if you like the top half of one or the bottom of another, this can be created for you; or if you want to make alterations to one of their existing designs to match your wedding dress in some way, it’s all included in their bespoke service.
Offering two methods to purchase dresses, via appointment, or online where you can design your own bridesmaid dresses from their dress range, mix and matching styles and fabrics, what fun! Their online service ensures they can cater for any overseas bridesmaids too.
Prices for appointment purchases are £225 per dress (incl. alterations), and £195 per dress (incl. alterations) for online purchases. Competitive prices for a fantastic and creative service. No wonder they have already won a wedding industry award for Best Newcomer.

Today’s blog post is personal, a tribute to one of my lovely wedding suppliers that helped make my wedding journey a memorable one. Miss Bush Bridal wear is Surrey's leading designer bridal boutique, established since 1988, and there are a few key reasons brides keep on visiting Miss Bush year on year. As most of you brides-to-be will agree finding 'the dress' is a high wedding priority! As a bride-to-be I had no idea where to begin. I'd heard the horror stories of rude, patronising wedding dress sales assistants, too focused on their own targets to care about the brides emotional state, or the wedding dress experience, well I can confidently say this is a huge ERROR! Getting in tune with the bride, understanding what she is looking for, and yes even pandering to her a little, can only provide the best results for both parties involved. This is undoubtedly the Miss Bush experience, focused on finding their brides the best possible dress for them, not what's the highest priced dress they can put them in. In fact the lovely ladies at Miss Bush will make sure they put you in a range of dresses - often going off piste from the original dress request, as in their experience brides tend go for a dress that is completely different from what they came in initially stating they were looking for. It certainly helped me whittle down the style, fabric and 'look' I was going for. Whilst I loved the Grace Kelly feel of some of their Suzanne Neville dresses, the Grecian goddess Jenny Packman dresses and the refined elegance of Rosa Clara dresses, it was a Maggie Sottero dress that stole the show for me. Tears from my mother and mother-in-law at most of my dress fittings were a good indicator too, but more than that I felt I had really tried on a wide range of dresses, giving me the confidence I needed to purchase my Maggie dress and not look back! So, if like me, you have no idea where to start on your wedding dress journey, head to Miss Bush in Ripley, Surrey asap! I visited other very nice wedding boutiques, but none left me feeling as confident and pleased with my choice of wedding dress as Miss Bush. With so many gorgeous designers and boutiques around what stands out about Miss Bush is their professionalism and experience in dressing their brides in the best dress possible for them.

Miss Bush Bridal wear boutique stocks in depth collections from the most prestigious labels.: Leading brands including Suzanne Neville, Maggie Sottero, Jenny Packham, Rosa Clara, Jesus Peiro, Cymbeline, Jim Hjelm and Ugo Zaldi.
