The BWC has just received this submission from another June bride-to-be, it's too romantic and we had to share it with you!
'We picked June because my mum used to watch the musical Seven Brides for Seven Brothers when I was a little girl, and the song 'June Bride' has stayed with me... I still think it's magical today! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YWzz_NJ6H00&feature=youtube_gdata_player My nan and lovely grandad also got married the first weekend in June, and since he's not here to celebrate with us, it seemed like a fitting tribute.
But with a few months to go, I had a sudden realisation that it might rain on the wedding day, and decided to track down a long range weather forecast. And, lo and behold, it came back wet!
After a couple of panicked texts to Mum/Groom, I realised pretty quickly that the weather was actually the one thing about the day that I had no control over, so decided to stop worrying, and get planning! I spoke to my good wedding planner friend (BWC!), and invested in white umbrellas and a pair of wedding wellies. Now I'm imaginging a wet day, so any dry spells will be a bonus!
I think it also helps that our photographer is fab and phased by nothing, so would find a way to make the photos work somehow... but even more than that, we picked our venue because we love everything about it, so we'd be more than happy to use another one of the amazing rooms for the reception if the garden is a no-go!
Above all, I want to walk down to aisle, marry John, and for everyone to have a great time with a glass of bubbly... and the rain can't spoil any of that!'
How beautiful. Please keep sharing your real wedding stories and experiences with us -

Given the recent horrible wet April weather in comparison to April last year (25 degree temps last year and sunshine!) The BWC has looked into how brides-to-be factor the weather into their big day, how much it plays a part in their wedding plans, and to what extent a Plan B is a must.
Certainly when working with clients I always advise that there is a Plan B, no wedding planner worth their weight in salt would not have a Plan B, and often have C and D too! I have asked some of the BWC's brides-to-be the question, 'Have you chosen your wedding date and location based on general weather trends for that area and time of year?' And, 'Do you have a Plan B?' The responses have clearly shown that yes the wedding date and venue is often selected based on the countries typical forecast at that time of year, and without doubt a Plan B is a must!
BWC's June bride-to-be, share's her points of view on this topic highlighting some really important points about your photographer.
Wedding location: Portugal:
'The thought of 'what if' makes me feel sick to be honest.. not only do I have to worry about bizarre tropical storms in Portugal, I also have the joys of ash clouds to contend with... at least in UK it is a little more accepted that there could be rain, I am not sure there would be many smiles if it rained at our wedding considering it is all outdoors. So yes, weather was a factor on the location choice!! And yes Plan B has been put in place - one huge marquee to cover the entire restaurant. Not really much of a plan B to put together if there are air strikes or ash clouds, bit out of my control but I will be keeping an eye on the news!!! Lots of praying is going to be done but to be honest who cares, I don't think it matters in the slightest as everyone enjoys the special day regardless... and yes I think the photos could be amazing BUT you need a visionary photographer (worth paying the extra bucks if there is a chance of bad weather!)'
December bride-to-be's point of view:
'We’ve picked December for that very reason. I know if I had a July wedding I’d want the whole thing to be outside and then it would rain and throw everything off course. We figured if you planned to have your wedding in bad weather (i.e in the winter) then it would be a plus if you have good weather. We were initially thinking of getting married in the alps so I now have a fixation with snow! Even if the weather is dry there’ll be a chance of mud as we are getting married in the countryside so I’ll be writing ‘footwear warnings’ in the invitation inserts and am trying to think of fun and creative ways to store everyone’s wellies etc at the reception so everyone can change into their Choos for dinner and dancing! The only two things I am worried about is that it may be freezing cold. We are going to be over investing in those space heaters and mulled wine to keep everyone toasty (I also have space under my dress for long johns – just in case ha!). We are also thinking of getting lots of blankets to have around in piles (like you get in ski resorts) but that might be budget dependant! If it snows then I don’t mind at all (as I love snow!) Although if guests can’t make it through the country lanes to get there, then I’ll be a little upset. But either way it’ll always be wonderful no matter what the weather does because people are there to celebrate the two of you. We are just trying to make the potential bad weather into a feature of the wedding.
Some very clever brides-to-be thinking of the positive side to a 'bad' weather wedding situation. Make sure you plan for bad weather, a Plan B is essential, or make clever provisions for wet or cold weather, and make sure the Plan B extends to your outfit too!

I’m Engaged! Now what do I do?!
The BWC is often asked to comment on various Wedding related topics, this week we wanted to share our article on how to start planning your big day once the engagement merriments have worn off. Knowing where to start with planning your big day can be a daunting task, how do you know where to start?!
A little fact for you all, on average a wedding takes a full 6 weeks to plan. So if you and your fiancé work long hours and don’t want to give up every weekend looking at venues or trawling the internet tracking down suppliers, investing in a professional planner could be the best decision you ever made!
As a wedding planner we do not get emotionally involved, this allows us greater perspective in choosing the correct suppliers for you and keeping you within budget. Every decision is made by you and your fiancé so the creation of your fabulous wedding is still all your own, we deal with the organisation, sourcing, budgeting and supplier management for you (the not so fun bits!)
Have a read of our advice on where to start with planning your wedding day:
'Working with Clare is like having the most consummate professional in the form of your best friend. A pleasure to work with, a contact that will fulfil your every wish in the most magical way, and that you will recommend for years to come,' Jane Richardson, Europe Training Manager & Make-up Artistry, NARS Cosmetics.
